BUILDING ON GENDER.

Women Development Centre, Janki Devi Memorial college had organised training sessions on Gender Sensitization along with CEQUIN ( an NGO that promotes the equal rights of women and girls, to help them in leading a life free from violence, developing their capabilities, have ownership and control of resources and participate and be included in decision making). Under this, ten sessions were held on their respective days. These training sessions were in online mode and all students from Delhi University as well as other Universities too were invited to it.

In the sessions our speakers also highlighted the issue which is the biggest reason for the injustice against women i.e. ‘Women have the information’ but ‘They lack in the area of awareness’.

In the sessions, our one of the speaker, Ms. Nazeem Khan talked about the projects conducted by CEQUIN called ‘Mardon Wali Baat’ that aims on recognising that men were a part of the solution and not the problem, she also mentioned popular campaigns such as ‘Respect Women, Respect Delhi’ with the Delhi Daredevils and ‘Mardo Wali Baat’ to create greater awareness and to help change the narrative of gender stereotyping in India. Under the sessions, we also covered topics like ‘Data Driven Approach (Glass Root Perspective)’. And, the last topic but not the least one, i.e. ‘Innovative Practices from CEQUIN: Kickstart Equality’

The Innovative practices from CEQUIN: Kickstart Equality is the major projects of CEQUIN Foundation which revolve around addressing gender inequality and uplifting the women in the local communities. Hence, as being a part of this organisation, the girls get the opportunity to grow and empower themselves.

The students thoroughly enjoyed the sessions, learned about their rights as young women and understood how they can become the change and transformation that is needed.
