NSS-JDMC has collaborated with Transit camp (Anand parbat), Shadipur since 2018.
Volunteers used to visit the slum to teach children before the pandemic.
Since, March 2020, online method of teaching has been adopted by the volunteers, which comes under project NEEV. Volunteers took classes through Google meet, zoom and whatsapp. Students were helped during their school exams and the volunteers filled the void left by the pandemic. Awareness sessions like hygiene, eating habits etc were scheduled once in a week.Overall, volunteers of NSS-JDMC tried to boost up the confidence of students and uplift their scores through hardwork and consistency.
We at, Kind Beings, are a team of young professionals who have come together to bring cohesive changes in society by performing the 'Acts of Kindness'. Our aim is to uplift the underprivileged, aware the illiterate, feed the hungry, be the voice for our mother Earth.
We are working largely on 4 projects at the moment and these are-
1. EDUSHALA - providing Tech based Learning to more than 200 slum kids at our three edushala centres in Delhi, Noida and Jammu.
2. StrongShe - A project lead by Girls to create awareness about sensitive issues for Women and to empower them.
3. Waste Management - All the plastic that has ever been created, still exists today. So under this project our emphasis is on to reduce plastic waste for which what we can do is Recycle, reduce our plastic consumption and replace plastic with alternative material substitutes.
4. Be Kind To Animals - A Campaign initiated for the Stray Animals by our Team. To aware people to provide them food and treat them generously.
Vrikshit Foundation is a Non- Profitable Organization,which is lead by youth who are doing relentless efforts for cleanliness and beautification of society .They cleaned 260+ locations and 6M+ KG trash . Started with a team of 5 friends, Vrikshit Foundation is slowly becoming a household name for climate enthusiasts. Started in the year 2019, the foundation has now spread across 14 states and cleaned over a million kilograms of
trash. Their major aim is to have a cleaner environment and work towards climate change. Through our most motivated volunteers, we organise clean up drives, campaigns, tree plantations, and wall paintings.Organize clean-up drives, plant trees, paint walls and make dirty places aesthetic so as to not invite more dirt or trash. Organize campaigns to teach people about the importance and urgency of climate action. They aspire to inspire the youth so that we all together can work and lead our nation to a better future and set it on a path of sustainable development, and we can achieve that by working on grassroots level.
Their initiatives : Cleanliness drives,100K Trees Challenge,Feed animals on Street,Yamuna Cleanup,Ration kits Distribution Drives,Food Distribution Drives(collaborated with Zomato) ,Wall painting, Clothes Donation,5 minutes waste challenge ,4R hero ,Education For All,Clean Social Media.
The volunteers of National Service Scheme of Janki Devi Memorial College worked on a project for which they were given different topics.
1. Emotional and mental health – Keeping in mind the pandemic situation, the volunteers were given this topic in order to help the people in coping up with stress and mental trauma. The volunteers highlighted excellently about the causes and consequences of mental stress as well as the the ways to prevent it.
2. Women rights and Child rights – Many people in India lack a proper access and knowledge about their own rights especially the women and children. The volunteers of the NSS cell helped them by presenting all the required information about the laws and rights that our constitution grants.
3. Enviornment conservation - Environment needs our attention as the resources are continuously diminishing and the burden on the existing resources is overburdened. Hence , the volunteers highlighted various ways in which the environment can be conservation and rescued from further damage.
4. Community Hygiene and Community Development - Community Development encompasses a range of efforts to improve the physical , economic and social environment one of which is community hygiene. The volunteers worked on creating awareness on the the importance of community hygiene in the development of our community.
5. Healthy and balance diet - The project presented the importance of a healthy and balanced diet for both physical and mental development of a person.
6. Personality development, soft skills and communication skills – The project highlighted the importance of personality development and the ways in which one can achieve it.
7. Disability in India - laws and rights of divyang person - The volunteers worked on creating awareness on the disability rights and also tried to change perception of the people who view the divyang with pity.
8. Laws for girls, women, children and senior citizens. – The project created awareness among the women, children and the senior citizens about their own rights and laws and different ways in which they can tackle with adverse crimes.
The projects were supervised persistently by Dr. Jayanti P Sahoo along with project head Amisha and Warisha The volunteers were divided into eight teams and every team was given a separate topic for which they had to prepare posters , powerpoint presentations , case studies. Every topic had importance of its own and it helped the volunteers in gaining much needed knowledge and exposure as the project required the volunteers to conduct survey and interact face to face with the person related to their project and learn from their experience.
